Timing of turns

I'm trying to learn when to start a turn for each dance. Does the turn begin on a count of 1 or another number? And is it the same for each dance. I've been trying to find a reference to answer this question. Appreciate anyone's imput.

It depends on the dance. I can speak for American style dancing. But for example the chacha the turns are on the 2,3 and not the ones. I am sure some turns for some dances start on a 1 but certainly not all. I hope I explained it OK. If you watch the videos on here they will show you what move is to what count and you can see that not all turns are on the 1.
